May 6 - Since posting, I been told (by good friend Katie P. in Cali.) that this flower is a Foxglove, and is extremely toxic if ingested. It is also used to treat heart disease. I am guessing you don't eat it for this use.

Interesting Flower
This gorgeous flower caught my eye in a parking lot (of all places!) of a Vineyard that we had stopped at quickly, just outside the city, when visiting San Fran. Gorgeous!
